NEW PROGRAM! KODA Teen Leadership Camp!

Camp Mark Seven is pleased to announce the launch of a new program for Summer 2012: the KODA Teen Leadership Camp (KODA-TLC)!  This one week camp program has been uniquely designed by hearing adults of Deaf parents (Codas) for hearing kids of Deaf parents who are 16 to 18 years of age (Koda teens).  Each day features a variety of fun and challenging activities that will foster learning, collaboration and teamwork.  Topics covered will include: characteristics of effective leaders, conflict management and peer coaching, Deaf and hearing cultures, dimensions of success and problem-solving, and fundamentals of leading groups and teams.  Activities include team building exercises, case studies, group discussions, journaling and reflection, swimming, canoeing, hiking and low ropes courses. In addition to developing leadership skills, a stronger sense of KODA identity and a peer support network, campers will learn how to organize, plan and implement a KODA activity, in preparation for their required service learning project. Each camper will be expected to either lead or help organize some type of KODA activity in their home area within a one-year period.

All KODA teenagers between the ages of 16 to 18 are invited and encouraged to apply for the program – previous participation in a KODA camp program is not required.  Space in this program is limited, so we urge you to apply early!
